The Walsingham Trust is dedicated to making the Catholic National Shrine of Our Lady a welcoming place for approximately 300,000 pilgrims, retreatants, and visitors each year, from all backgrounds and beliefs. The Trust aims to enhance the spiritual and practical experiences of both day and residential pilgrims from around the world.

The Trust maintains and cares for the Catholic National Shrine of Our Lady, one of Europe’s oldest and most significant sacred sites. The Trust ensures the site’s accessibility, catering to diverse groups such as dioceses, parishes, families, young adults, and large gatherings, including the Tamil pilgrimage, which attracts 9,000 visitors.

The Trust supports pilgrims with 142 beds for accommodation, catering, an annual calendar of day and residential pilgrimages and retreats. Additionally, the Trust operates a visitor shop, a small museum displaying Marian artefacts and a Shrine Tea Room.

Job Title: IT Support & Sound Technician

Organisation: Walsingham Trust (Charity)

Location: Walsingham & Houghton-St-Giles

Contract: Full-Time: 5 days a week, Permanent

Hours: 9am to 5pm (1-hour break), Friday to Tuesday.

Salary: In the region of £30,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Job Overview:

Walsingham Trust is seeking a dedicated and versatile IT Support Technician to join our team. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of our IT infrastructure and supporting various technical aspects of our charity’s activities. The position is on-site, requiring work across our Walsingham and Houghton-St-Giles sites.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide helpdesk support and perform IT technician duties, including new builds and repairs.
  • Maintain and improve network and server systems, including DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, and print services.
  • Manage telecoms systems and support various IT projects.
  • Handle hardware support for laptops, PCs, printers, MFC, photocopiers, VoIP phones, and server cabinets, including performing SSD and RAM upgrades.
  • Set up projectors and manage remote meetings via TEAMS and Zoom.
  • Install equipment on walls and ceilings, run cables through roof and loft spaces, and set up P2P networks for events.
  • Manage daily livestreaming using multiple cameras via XSplit and restream to platforms like YouTube and Facebook.
  • Install and configure Ethernet PoE CCTV systems.
  • Tag IT assets, maintain inventory, and perform PAT testing of IT equipment.
  • Provide audio engineering using the X32 digital mixer for liturgical services, including microphone setup and managing mobile PA systems.
  • Arrange and oversee the setup of LED screens and audio speakers for major events in fields and Abbey Grounds.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems (Pro/Enterprise & Server) and Windows Server.
  • Experience with DHCP, DNS, Active Directory, and print networking.
  • Knowledge of networking hardware (routers, switches, cabling, APs).
  • Competence in hardware support for laptops, PCs, and printers, including SSD and RAM upgrades.
  • Ability to set up projectors and manage remote meetings via TEAMS and Zoom.
  • Skilled in running cables through various spaces and setting up P2P networks.
  • Experience with daily livestreaming management using Xsplit and various streaming platforms.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet PoE CCTV installation and configuration.
  • Proficiency in IT asset tagging, inventory maintenance, and PAT testing (training course provided).
  • Experience in audio engineering, especially with the X32 digital mixer (or similar), microphone setup, and mobile PA systems.
  • Clean driving licence and access to own vehicle essential.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to react quickly to technology failures.
  • Experience in setting up LED screens and audio speakers for large events.
