Diocese of Nottingham makes Annual Pilgrimage to Catholic National Shrine of Our Lady, at Walsingham

On Saturday 15th June 2024, the annual Diocese of Nottingham Pilgrimage to Walsingham, led by Bishop Patrick McKinney, took place. The Pilgrimage, which had a strong ‘vocational’ theme, saw around 600 diocesan pilgrims gather together with other day pilgrims, for Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, and Benediction.

The pilgrimage began at 11.00 am with pilgrims arriving at the Shrine, followed by the Pontifical Mass with Youth Choirs of the Diocese in the Chapel of Reconciliation at 12 noon, celebrated by Bishop Patrick McKinney, with Fr Robert Billing, Rector of the Shrine, and a number of Nottingham priests concelebrating.

After lunch, there was the opportunity for Adoration and confessions, also a Vocations Stall which provided pilgrims with a chance to chat with the Vocations Directors and Religious of the Diocese and special activities for children and young people.

Due to the inclement weather, the planned procession to the Abbey Grounds in Walsingham for Benediction was replaced by a time of Adoration before the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction in the Chapel of Reconciliation, led by Bishop McKinney.
