Catholic National Shrine of Our Lady Welcomes Annual Northampton Pilgrimage to Walsingham

On Saturday 8th June, the annual Diocese of Northampton Pilgrimage to Walsingham took place, led by Fr Simon Penhalagan, Episcopal Vicar representing Bishop David Oakley. The Pilgrimage saw around 600 diocesan pilgrims gather together with other day pilgrims, for Mass and prayers.

The pilgrimage began at 10.30 am with pilgrims arriving at the Shrine, followed by the opportunity for confessions. At 12 noon, Fr Penhalagan was the chief celebrant for Mass in the Chapel of Reconciliation, with Fr Robert Billing, Rector of the Shrine and a number of Northampton priests concelebrating. At the close of the Mass, Fr Billing paid particular tribute to Deacon Michael Fleming who has coordinated the Northampton Pilgrimage for some 32 years.

After lunch, pilgrims processed down the Pilgrim Way to the Abbey Grounds in Walsingham for Prayers, led by Fr Penhalagan.
