Catholic National Shrine Of Our Lady Welcomes Annual Brentwood Pilgrimage To Walsingham

On Saturday 25th May, the annual Brentwood Diocese Pilgrimage to Walsingham, led by Bishop Alan Williams SM, Bishop of Brentwood, and former Director of the Shrine, saw around 600 diocesan pilgrims gather together with other day pilgrims, for Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, Vespers, and Benediction.

The pilgrimage began at 10.00am with pilgrims arriving at the Shrine, followed by the opportunity for confessions. At 12 noon, Bishop Alan Williams SM was the chief celebrant for Mass in the Chapel of Reconciliation, with Fr Robert Billing and Mgr John Armitage, and other Brentwood priests concelebrating.

After lunch, due to the inclement weather, the planned procession to the Abbey Grounds in Walsingham for Vespers and Benediction was replaced by a time of Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Vespers, and Benediction in the Chapel of Reconciliation, led by Bishop Williams and with Fr Billing assisting.
