Canonisation of their Founder St. Charles de Foucauld

Some Reflections from Ls Kathy concerning the recent Canonisation of their Founder St. Charles de Foucauld.

The Little Sisters of Jesus have been present in Walsingham for nearly 50 years.

Bishop David Oakley of the Diocese of Northampton celebrated Holy Mass at Our Lady’s Shrine in Thanksgiving.

… Walsingham is known as “England’s Nazareth” and so it seemed good that his canonisation be celebrated here, but the prospect of organising a big celebration was a bit daunting, given our small number.  It could only work if we got others involved. But a few months earlier we had organised a small celebration for L Sr Patricia’s 50th jubilee and we could sense what a great longing there was in the parish to get together after all the Covid restrictions.  So we took the risk.

We began by inviting Bishop David Oakley, who had been a long-time member of the priests’ fraternity and had known us in Birmingham.  He immediately accepted and suggested that the celebration take place during the noon Mass at the Shrine since it is live streamed and would reach more people. … Read on!
