Little Sister Kathy of the Fraternity of the Little Sisters of Jesus in Walsingham invites us to join in prayer and celebration.

On May 15th, Pope Francis will canonize Charles de Foucauld, founder of the little sisters of Jesus who have been present in Walsingham for over 50 years.  Convinced of the value of a contemplative life in a missionary setting, he lived among the Muslim Tuaregs of the Sahara at the beginning of the 20thcentury.  He wished to be known as the “universal brother”, living an apostolate of goodness as a means to preparing the way for the Gospel.  “The good we do depends on what we are, not on what we say or do.”  Killed in 1916, many religious groups and lay people continue to follow him as a model of how to announce the Gospel in our troubled world.

The 12pm Mass at Our Lady’s Shrine  in Walsingham, on May 16 will be celebrated by Bishop David Oakley in thanksgiving for his canonization.

Another celebration will be led by Bishop Kevin McDonald at St. Matthew’s Church, West Norwood on June 11.  All are welcome.
