The Feast of the Ascension of the Lord + Dominican Pilgrimage 2016

The Dominican Order celebrated the eight hundredth anniversary of the founding of their order on the Feast of the Ascension at Walsingham led by the
Archbishop of Liverpool, the Most Revd Malcolm McMahon OP. Coaches came from London, Oxford and Cambridge and it was very good to see so many
Dominican brothers and sisters at the National Shrine. After Mass in the Chapel of Reconciliation Mgr John Armitage, Shrine Rector, gave a statue of Our Lady of
Walsingham to Fr Thomas Skeats OP, parish priest of Our Lady of the Rosary, St Dominic`s Priory, Haverstock Hill, as a gift from the National Shrine of Our
Lady to England`s newest shrine. After lunch there was a rosary procession along the Pilgrims` Way and the pilgrimage concluded with Vespers and
Benediction in the Church of the Annunciation.
