On Saturday, 5th September we were privileged to welcome the pilgrimage of the bishops and seminarians of England Wales led by His Eminence Cardinal Vincent
Nichols. Many arrived on Friday evening staying in the village and were able to explore the village and those who wished attended vespers at the Anglican Shrine.
On Saturday the cardinal celebrated Mass, with the archbishops of Southwark and Birmingham and the bishops. The cardinal spoke of the importance of the Year
of Mercy and how important a part an understanding of mercy and justice should play in the formation of the priesthood. In the Year of Mercy the National
Shrine, the Slipper Chapel, will be a Holy Door. In the afternoon the bishops and seminarians processed along the Pilgrims` Way and their day concluded with
Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and Benediction.
