Tamil Pilgrimage Sun 5 May

We welcome the May Tamil Pilgrimage on Sunday 5 May – Mass will begin at 12 noon and will take place in the Shrine Grounds, as thousands are expected to attend.

Please be careful if using SatNavs and use the Postcode NR22 6AS to find the Shrine otherwise you may end up going through water or coming in from the wrong direction. If you get directions from AA Route Planner you can use NR22 6AL as they have altered their route to the Shrine to our recommended route.

Mass in English on Sun 5 May

Please note that the English language 12 noon Mass on Sunday 5 May will take place in the Church of the Annunciation in the village.

The Tamil Pilgrimage Mass is at the Shrine.

Diocese of Salford – Sat 4 May

The Diocese of Salford are making their pilgrimage to Walsingham on Saturday 4 May – do please come and join them.

They will assemble in Friday Market Place at 1.00 pm for a Procession to the Shrine. At 3.00 pm Bishop Brain will conduct a Service of Reconciliation which will be followed by individual confessions. Their Mass will begin at 4.00 pm.

Please remember that the fords around the Shrine are still swollen from the winter/early Spring rain and avoid them – the currents are dangerously deceptive.

It is with great joy that we at the Roman Catholic National Shrine welcome our new pope, Francis I, Cardinal Jorge Bergoglio.

The Final Countdown ….

… yes, a song by a rock band, but also what the staff at Elmham House are currently doing! Ensuring that the building is ready for the start of the season is always a daunting task – is the paint dry, have the chairs arrived? are the new beds unpacked?

Well, judging by the gradually decreasing speed at which the staff are moving, I think we’re moving in the right direction!

Tomorrow we welcome the Walsingham Association members who are booked for their Spring Meeting Weekend – if you’re not a member but love Walsingham and Our Lady, then check out what they get up to on the WA pages of this website and maybe you could join them for their Retreat and Annual Meeting in November or be here yourself this time next year for the Spring Meeting.

The accommodation opens to the public on Sunday 3 March – so do come along as we have plenty of accommodation available … and an offer of Three nights B&B for the Price of Two to boot! (Applies to Ensuites and Standard rooms).

Nan McLaughlin (RIP)

Nan in the “Welcome Hut”

We are sad to report the death of a wonderful Walsingham friend – Nan McLaughlin – on 31 January 2013. Many will remember Nan at the Shrine from her hours spent in the “Welcome Hut” where she greeted members of the Walsingham Association, pilgrims and visitors of all faiths and none alike, with enthusiasm and a great warmth of affection for Our Lady.

Her body will be received into the Slipper Chapel on Sunday 17 February at 5 pm and her Funeral Mass will take place in the Chapel of Reconciliation at 12 noon the following day.

May she rest in peace.
