Last weekend the Basilica of Our Lady of Walsingham had an honour to welcome His Eminence Raymond Leo Cardinal Burke on his first visit to Our Lady's Shrine. Cardinal spent his weekend here at Walsingam as a guest of the National Association of Catholic Families who came for their annual pilgrimage.

Tuesday 31st May was the Diocese of East Anglia Children’s Pilgrimage. We woke up in Walsingham to torrential rain and during the morning a month’s rainfall was recorded. A large number of families camped for the weekend in the fields opposite the Shrine. The pilgrimage was led by Bishop Alan Williams SM. After celebrating Mass this year the pilgrims walked along the Pilgrims’ Way to the Priory grounds rather than to Elmham House gardens. Vespers and Benediction followed and there was the opportunity for pilgrims to pray at the site of the original shrine.
